A Good Man, a Good President, and a Good Example –
William McKinley like James Garfield understood the dangers of a watered-down money supply.  He realized that the “free silver” bill would undercut and drain the gold base of the nation’s economic system.  It is tragic that his untimely death cut short his efforts to return America to a sound fiscal policy.

A careful study of this booklet will reveal McKinley to be a very decent man whose concern was for the best interests of his country.   One should not neglect the Financial Reconstruction Era.  The departure of America economically set the stage for the Progressive Era.
