John Jay was truly a man of distinction and was heralded as a man of character and trust.  Jay served in both the First and Second Continental Congress, was instrumental in the passage of the Constitution in New York, and was appointed by Washington as the first Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court.
Unlike many judges today, Jay recognized and bowed his knees before the Supreme Judge of the universe.
