John Marshall was the fourth Chief Justice of the Supreme Court appointed and served from 1801-1835. Marshall remains the longest serving Chief Justice in our nation’s history. Marshall did a great deal to establish the authority of the Supreme Court. Judicial review is synonymous with Marshall, and he left in incredible impact on the formative years of the Supreme Court.
